New players
Recently we, as a band undertook a couple of recruiting (Come try us) events where we took a small collection of instruments to events and encouraged members of our audience to come and try a brass instrument. We are so pleased that as a result of these events, we have recruited 5 developement players who have taken up positions in our learner section so look out for us and come have a blow. We have loaned them all instruments and they are being taught to play by regular experienced members of the band free of charge. At the moment we have one Cornet player, one Baritone player, one Euphonium player two trombone players learning alongside each other with a hope to be a part of the Christmas concert, playing carols along with the main band. We still have spaces for horn players, or can accommodate you, whatever you feel you might like to try. (Our Musical Director, might encourage you to try something that will benefit the band, where we have spaces, but we will do our best to let you play the instrument you choose). If you think you might be interested in coming along and seeing how we encourage new players, or players who have not been in the seat for some time, feel free to contact our secretary and he will send you details of where and when we rehearse / teach.

“I enquired about joining WTB in December 2024 as a new brass instrument learner. I had tried for years to learn an instrument at home or via YouTube videos etc. but missed the ability to play with others. Wolverton Town Band needs you!
Fancy playing in a brass band? Why not come and join us! It doesn’t cost much (Subs are currently £60 per year) and we’re always on the look out for new players. Our developement section do not currently pay subs, but will be eligable for payments once they graduate to our main performance band. This means that your instrument loan and tuition are free, so there is no barrier to learning with us.
We currently play at the Old Bath House, 205 Stratford Road, Wolverton, Milton Keynes, MK12 5RL – on Monday evenings (Set up from 7:15pm, aiming to play by 7:30)
Parking can be found alongside the Old Bath House on the road to Lidl supermarket, enter the main hall by the loading bay.
We’re looking for brass players of all ages, abilities and instruments to join our friendly, community band. Maybe you’re new to playing an instrument, or already play – it might even be a totally different instrument to brass, but you fancy a change! We offer free use of a band-owned instrument, music stand and other accessories.
