Come Join The Band
We are always looking for new players, be it a complete beginner or someone who has played before and are looking to get back into playing after a period away from it. We are a friendly band who are willing to help you, no matter how advanced you may be. We can lend you an instrument, and teach you for free, with band fees (£60 a year) only kicking in once you have graduated into the main performance band.

“I enquired about joining WTB in December 2024 as a new brass instrument learner. I had tried for years to learn an instrument at home or via YouTube videos etc. but missed the ability to play with others. I contacted the band and was encouraged to come along to the weekly rehearsals. From the very start I was met with encouragement, warmth and a desire to help. In my case one of the band members has been willing to give up their time to teach me, for which I am very grateful. In my short experience, WTB take their music very seriously but in a non-intimidating way for a learner like me.

“We came across Wolverton Town Band at a try-out session at Wolverton Rec and it’s been brilliant for my son ever since. He’s in Year 5 and never played a brass instrument, but the progress he’s made already has genuinely blown me away.
The instructors and wider band members are so friendly, enthusiastic and patient, and it really shows in how much they know and how well they explain things. My son comes home buzzing every time and it’s sparked a real passion for music that I wasn’t expecting.
I also love that he gets to learn alongside such a mix of ages – it’s given him a real sense of what he’s working towards and he loves being part of something bigger. He’s already looking forward to playing alongside the band one day and we couldn’t be happier we found them.
What really stands out is how accessible it all is – lessons, instruments and resources are provided, which makes learning an instrument possible for families who might not otherwise be able to afford it.

Wolverton Town Band needs you!
Fancy playing in a brass band? Why not come and join us! It doesn’t cost much (Subs are currently £60 per year) and we’re always on the look out for new players. Our developement section do not currently pay subs, but will be eligable for payments once they graduate to our main performance band. This means that your instrument loan and tuition are free, so there is no barrier to learning with us.
We currently play at the Old Bath House, 205 Stratford Road, Wolverton, Milton Keynes, MK12 5RL – on Monday evenings (Set up from 7:15pm, aiming to play by 7:30)
Parking can be found alongside the Old Bath House on the road to Lidl supermarket, enter the main hall by the loading bay.
We’re looking for brass players of all ages, abilities and instruments to join our friendly, community band. Maybe you’re new to playing an instrument, or already play – it might even be a totally different instrument to brass, but you fancy a change! We offer free use of a band-owned instrument, music stand and other accessories.
